Reiki Healing

"Reiki is love, love is whole/ness, wholeness is balance, balance is well being, well being is freedom from disease." - Dr. Mikao Usui (Founder of Reiki)

My experience with Reiki...whilst travelling through Vietnam a few years ago feeling thoroughly jet lagged, my anxiety and exhaustion were at an all time high. A friend offered to send me Reiki and we arranged a time later that evening. I'd never even heard of Reiki, and was very sceptical to say the least! Getting into bed later that night and almost at panic attack stage, the appointment had slipped my mind. Getting up to go to the bathroom, I suddenly felt an overwhelming surge of sudden relief and calm sweep....

through my body, as if all my anxiety had suddenly disappeared. I looked at my phone and sure enough it was just a few minutes past the appointment time. Still slightly sceptical, I turned in for the evening and was awoken twice by what I can only describe as soft vibrations of peace flowing through my body. After this very powerful and life changing experience, I started my own journey towards becoming a Reiki practitioner.

So what exactly is Reiki? “Reiki” (pronounced ‘ray-key’) is Japanese for ‘universal life energy’ and a type of energy healing whereby a Reiki practitioner places the palms of their hands in a series of non-intrusive positions on (or near) the body ~ or by visualisation ~ over distance, to encourage emotional or physical healing. Reiki can improve overall emotional and physical wellbeing and is also used within the NHS to treat patients as a complementary therapy for physical illnesses, to aid the healing process (please note - Reiki is not a substitute for medication and conventional therapies). However, you do not have to be suffering from any kind of illness to benefit from a Reiki session mentally or physically. Reiki was founded by Japanese Buddhist, Mikao Usui in 1922.

What is Distance Reiki? Reiki healing by distance is also possible, and can be just as powerful as a Reiki session in person. Reiki energy connects on our spiritual and energetic levels and distance sessions work because energy is not limited by distance. Distance is a physical limitation only. In a distance Reiki session, we will organise a convenient time where you will be able to sit back, relax and receive some healing for approximately 45 minutes while I "connect" to Reiki and send you some healing.

Reiki Treatment

What does Reiki feel like? You may or may not feel sensations during a treatment, everyone is different and every treatment can differ. Some people may see colours or visions, which may or may not have an immediate meaning, some people may feel sensations such as tingling, some people may simply experience feelings of wellbeing and calm. In some cases, you may have an emotional response, which can signify the removal of blockages, allowing the restoration of harmony to take place in our body, mind and soul. Reiki is a safe and calming treatment that can be helpful to us at difficult times in our lives or simply as part of our daily lives in these hectic times.
